Dexwet-df1 Racing announced today that Guillaume Deflandre will race for the Austrian team in for the four 2019 NWES playoff races. The Belgian will compete in the semi-finals at Hockenheim and in the finals at Zolder – Deflandre’s home track – in the ELITE 1 Division.
Despite being just 23 years old, Deflande already has plenty of experience in the series and with the team, since he raced with DF1 Racing in 2015 and 2016 in the ELITE 2 Division, but he will be making his debut in Euro NASCAR’s top division.
Deflandre’s palmares features four NWES wins, eleven podium finishes and two pole positions in 37 starts. In four ELITE 2 season, the future Dexwet-df1 Racing driver led 49 laps. He was a title contender in 2018 until the very last weekend of the season.
“We are looking forward to Guillaume’s comeback,” said Dexwet-df1 Racing’s motorsport boss Norbert Walchhofer. “He is a fast and talented driver, who proved to perform at the best level in the past. We know him well from his time with us and it’s great to have him in our line-up. He will compete in the ELITE 1 Division in the remainder of the season. We are also working hard to have him in our team full-time in 2020.”
“I missed the 2019 regular season because I was not able to find the right budget,” said Deflandre about his Euro NASCAR comeback. “My manager and I found a way to compete in the playoffs. I’m looking forward to race for Dexwet-df1 Racing in the remaining two race weekends. I will give my best to make the team proud. This will be my ELITE 1 Division debut and I’m looking forward to the new experience and challenge.”
Dexwet-df1 Racing will be testing their Green Tigers in the summer break. The playoffs will start on September 21-22 at Hockenheim, Germany, while the season final is scheduled for October 5-6 at Zolder, Deflandre’s home track in Belgium.
