In what is the team’s second season in the NASCAR Whelen Euro Series and the first fielding the #12 Camaro in both divisions, Solaris Motorsport keeps improving race after race. the Italian squad is looking for a stable place on the podium for Francesco Sini and rookie Naveh Talor.
Sini ended up 18th in his ELITE 1 Division debut in 2018 and is still looking for a way to get back on the podium after his third place at Brands Hatch last year. The experienced Italian driver, who won the Euro V8 Series in 2014, thinks the team is close to contend for the win at every event.
“We had some ups and downs during the regular season due to bad luck and the massively increased level of the ELITE 1 Division competition,” said the 38-year Fano native. “We improved race by race and we had a real chance to fight for the podium at Brands Hatch again. We also had the car to attack for the race win, but our engine gave up.”
In the 2019 NWES season Sini’s best result is a sixth place in ELITE 1 Round 7 at Autodrom Most. With three top-10 finishes the Italian sits 17th in points and plans to go on the attack in the playoffs at Hockenheim and Zolder.
“I want to get on the podium in the playoffs,” said Sini. “We don’t want to finish the season without having been on the podium at least once. I will fight as hard as I can to reach that goal. The team is doing a great job and I think we have what it takes to enter the top-3!”
Naveh Talor, the team’s ELITE 2 Division driver, is having a solid debut season. The Israeli sits 14th in points and scored two top-10 finishes. The best results for the 17-year old driver are two eighth places at Franciacorta and Most. Team owner Roberto Sini is very happy with the performance of his young talent.
“He is a smart driver and he learnt a lot during the regular season,” said Sini. “Despite his young age he acts very maturely and that is really helping in his and the team’s development. With the collaboration of Francesco and the team he improved race by race and I believe he’s ready to fight for a top-5 spot in the 2019 NWES playoffs.”
To hit all the targets in the playoffs, with double points on the line, Solaris Motorsport will equip the #12 Camaro with a brand new V8 engine. Roberto Sini said: “We want to fight for podiums and score some consistent results in the last four races and we’ll do our best to reach our goals.”
Solaris Motorsport will be back in action on September 21-22 at the iconic Hockenheimring, Germany. Two weeks later, on 5-6 October, the NWES Finals will take place at the famous Circuit Zolder in Belgium.
