Martin Doubek weighs in on home NASCAR GP and racing both NWES divisions

Martin Doubek is one of the NWES drivers who test themselves by competing in both divisions of the European NASCAR Series, driving four races, plus practice and qualifying, in each meeting.

Despite being only 24 year old, the Czech is a veteran of the NASCAR Whelen Euro Series, having debuted in 2015. He never refrained from racing both NWES division and his best result was the 13th place in the 2018 ELITE 1 Division championship, driving for Hendriks Motorsport. In 2019 he already amassed 273 laps despite missing Brands Hatch due to a knee injury and was back on the grid for a very special event: the first NASCAR GP of the Czech Republic.

"I had to undergo surgery and after that I wasn’t able to compete at Brands Hatch, so I lost a lot of points and that’s why i’m not satisfied with my regular season," said the Litomysl native who however scored two top-5 and three top-10 finishes in the ELITE 2 Division and two top-10 finishes in the ELITE 1 Division.

The biggest highlight of Doubek’s regular season was the very first NWES event at the Autodrom Most, his home track in the Czech Republic. "It was amazing," said the 24-year-old, who put up an impressive show for his fans. "I met a lot of friends and fans there. I hoped for better results, but I made some mistakes in the second race of the ELITE 2 Division and I lost the chance to get on the podium. I’m already looking forward to the next races at Most in the 2020 season".

Doubek sees pulling double duties as a special training to be as effective as possible on track in such a competitive environment as Euro NASCAR.

"I don’t find it that hard to race in both championships," he said. "The ELITE 2 Division makes for a very good training to prepare myself for the ELITE 1 Division races. But I wasn’t able to meet my expectations this season, so I’m already preparing to be more competitive in the 2020 championship."

Doubek will give his best, to maximize results at the wheel of his #7 Ford Mustang and close the 2019 season in the best way possible. The Czech will be back on track in both divisions on September 21-22 at the legendary Hockenheimring in Germany – the home of the NWES Semi Finals. The season’s Final will take place on October 5-6 at Circuit Zolder in Belgium.
