German GT champion Daniel Keilwitz set for NWES debut at Hockenheim

German fans will be up for a special treat on September 21-22, when the NASCAR Whelen Euro Series will return to Hockenheim to kick off the 2019 playoffs with the Semi Finals. GT champion Daniel Keilwitz will make his NWES debut in the NASCAR GP Germany joining Mishumotors to pilot the #70 Chevrolet Camaro in the ELITE 1 Division.

A veteran of GT racing in Europe, Keilwitz is one of the most successful German GT3 drivers. The 30-year-old Villingen-Schwenningen native won the FIA European GT3 title in 2010, the ADAC GT Masters in 2013 on a Callaway Corvette Z06 and since 2011 he has always been fighting for the GT Masters title. He earned himself the reputation of being one of the most consistent drivers in the series by always finishing in the top 3 in points between 2012 and 2018.

Keilwitz will add his talent to the already ultra competitive ELITE 1 Division, the championship for professional European NASCAR drivers, and go for a place at the top of the standings in front of his home crowd. As per rulebook, Keilwitz will not take points away from the NWES regulars, but he will definitely be one to keep an eye on at Hockenheim.

“The opportunity came up spontaneous last week. I talked to Mishumotors team owner Mirco Schultis and to Karl Geiger, who’s a good friend of mine, and we decided to take part in the NASCAR GP Germany. I follow the series and I know some drivers from the GT Masters like Euro NASCAR champion Alon Day”, said Keilwitz, who will drive a NWES car for the first time in practice at Hockenheim. “I don’t think I will battle for the win in my very first race, but I will try to be competitive. It’s all about having fun and get used to the car and the series. I’ve never driven a car like that before! Maybe this will be the foundation for more races in the NASCAR Whelen Euro Series in the future.”

Keilwitz’s car, the #70 Chevrolet Camaro by Mishumotors, will be sponsored by Geigercars, a renowned US car dealer based in Munich, which is regularly part of automotive TV shows on the German television. Keilwitz will share the car with Mishumotors team owner Mirco Schultis, who is still in the hunt for the overall win in the Legend Trophy in the ELITE 2 Division.

Geigercars owner Karl Geiger, well known due to his appearance in the German TV-show “Boss of Big Blocks” on DMAX, will give his NWES debut at the wheel of the #70 Chevrolet Camaro in the ELITE Club Division. The US car enthusiast will surely enjoy the power of the NWES V8 beasts.

Don’t miss the first ever NWES race of Daniel Keilwitz on September 21-22 at the iconic Hockenheimring, Germany. Qualifying and alle races will be streamed live on Fanschoice.tv, the Euro NASCAR Youtube and Facebook channels, Motorsport.tv and a vast network of websites and social media pages from around the world.
