The EuroNASCAR Esports Series organized by Team FJ will make another virtual trip to the other side of the Atlantic by visiting the famous Charlotte Roval in North Carolina. The 3.67 kilometers long track utilizing portions of the Charlotte Motor Speedway oval will host Semi Final 2 of the first ever virtual championship dedicated to NASCAR Whelen Euro Series teams, drivers and team members.
Entering the double-points penultimate round of the season, reigning NWES champion and Hendriks Motorsport driver Loris Hezemans leads the overall classification with a 4-point advantage on DF1 Racing’s Andre Castro, who won the ENES Prologue at Daytona. Hezemans’ teammate Tobias Dauenhauer sits in third, just 19 points shy of the championship leader while both Hendriks Motorsport’s drivers are still chasing their first iRacing win.
DF1 Racing driver and EuroNASCAR 2 champion Lasse Soerensen, who led the standings at the end of the regular season after a brilliant win at Indianapolis, is now fourth ahead of Braxx Racing’s Bryan Crauwels. The Belgian is the highest-placed team member and precedes two-time NWES champion Alon Day. Andreas Jochimsen, Zandvoort winner Jeffrey Roeffen, Ulysse Delsaux and Alessandro Brigatti round out the top-10.
ENES POINTS STANDINGS | ENES RESULTS
With four drivers representing three real life cars – the #22 Camaro, #50 Mustang and #66 Camaro – DF1 Racing and Hendriks Motorsport are the clear favorites in the battle for the first ever EuroNASCAR Esports Series title. The winner of the iRacing championship series will score 40 points for the real 2020 NWES Teams classification, while the second place will get 35 points. Only the best driver of each real-life car brings points to the team for the real championship.
At the Charlotte Roval, four NASCAR Whelen Euro Series track partners will field a virtual car to promote their upcoming events. NWES veteran Bert Longin will take the wheel of the #411 Circuit Zolder Camaro, track marshal Claudio Sabatini will be driving the #413 Fordzilla Circuit Ricardo Tormo car, while Michael Bräutigam will represent the Hockenheimring American Fan Fest at the wheel of his #479 Chevrolet Camaro. The Autodrom Most, which scored two ENES wins with Michal Smidl, will field HR specialist Ivana Venzarov.
Semi Final 2 of the EuroNASCAR Esports Series will take place on Tuesday, June 30, at 8:00 pm CEST and will consist of three 10-minute Heats, one 10-minute Last Chance Qualifier and a double-points 30-minute Main Event race. The event will be broadcasted live on EuroNASCAR’s YouTube channel, Facebook page and Twitch profile as well as on Motorsport.tv.
