Thomas Ferrando renews with CAAL Racing and secures sponsorship deal with YACCO

Thomas Ferrando will be back stronger than ever with his cowboy hat in the NASCAR Whelen Euro Series season to go for the European NASCAR title with support from YACCO. The 22-year-old Pertuise native signed a contract extension with Italian powerhouse CAAL Racing to drive the #88 EuroNASCAR FJ 2020 in the EuroNASCAR PRO championship.

"I’m definitely ready for the new season," said the Frenchman. "I worked all winter long to find the right partners for the 2020 season and I also prepared myself for the upcoming challenges. I did a lot of workouts and fitness training to get the most out of myself when we go back to racing. I want to win the championship and that’s why I did all I could to be prepared in the best possible way."

Ferrando is one of the first NWES-bred talents that moved straight from karting to NASCAR. He made his debut in the US at the legendary Bowman Gray Stadium in 2012, when he was only 14 year old. He then joined NWES in 2014, immediately leaving his mark with two resounding wins and proceeded to conquer the EuroNASCAR 2 title in 2017 with a record season highlighted by seven victories. In 2018, Ferrando took on the best NASCAR drivers in Europe in EuroNASCAR PRO and competed in the US.

2019 marked Ferrando’s breakthrough in the top NASCAR Whelen Euro Series championship. The Frenchman joined CAAL Racing and scored two podium finishes before finally finding his way to Victory Lane at Zolder in the penultimate race of the season. The goal now can only be the biggest prize: the NASCAR Whelen Euro Series title.

"Winning with CAAL Racing last year was a big step for me. I wasn’t expecting that because I had a tough start to the championship. But since joining CAAL Racing everything improved and worked better from race to race. The Zolder win was amazing and also qualifying was great as we were gambling a little bit with the tire choice and the changing weather. It was great being back up front, it was a great feeling," said the driver of the #88 EuroNASCAR FJ 2020. "I think we are ready to fight for the win in every race in the 2020 NWES season. Working with CAAL Racing and my teammate Max Lanza is just great."

Ferrando is proud to represent YACCO in the 2020 NWES season: "They have been in EuroNASCAR for the first time in 2018 with NASCAR legend Bobby Labonte and it’s just great to be their next testimonial. It’s fantastic to work with them, they were part of my childhood due to their strong engagement in rallyes. I watched a lot of rallyes when I was young and I saw the logo a lot of times. I’m really enthusiastic about working with YACCO and I really want to bring the company to the top of European NASCAR racing."

"YACCO, which recently celebrated its 100th anniversary of the brand, is proud to accompany Thomas Ferrando who will race again on the highest level in EuroNASCAR in a major team in 2020," said YACCO CEO Eric Candelier. "This involvement reflects YACCO’s desire to be involved as a ‘booster’ for young talents in all disciplines of motorsport all over the world."

The NASCAR Whelen Euro Series season will kick off this weekend in Vallelunga, Italy with the NASCAR GP Italy.
