After two oval races in the NASCAR Xfinity Series earlier this year, NWES points leader Loris Hezemans will be competing in the US again this coming weekend on the road course of the world-famous Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Once again, Hezemans will focus on taking the next step in order to obtain the NASCAR Cup Series license and be able to compete in the NASCAR Cup Series next year.
Hezemans will drive the #33 Reaume Brothers Racing Chevrolet Camaro. With practice returning to the schedule for the event, the 24-year-old Dutchman is poised to put his NWES experience to good use at Indianapolis.
“I am very excited to be driving in my first road course race of the year in the 2021 NXS season with Reaume Brothers Racing. The addition of practice together with the fact that my racing experience is mainly on road courses makes it a great event to look forward to,” said Hezemans. “The goal of the weekend is to at least come back with a top-15 finish, by driving smart and applying my road course knowledge to the track.”
For Hezemans, it will not be the first time on a road course in the United States. In 2019, he made his NASCAR Xfinity Series debut at Road America, where he climbed up to 16th place on the final restart. A crash in front of him eventually prevented a fantastic top 20 finish in his debut race.
The Pennzoil 150 at the Brickyard will be run on Saturday, August 14. The green flag will be waved around 22:00 CET.
After the race, Hezemans will return to Europe to defend the points lead in the EuroNASCAR PRO Championship at Autodrom Most in the Aug 28-29 NASCAR GP Czech Republic. Qualifying and all races from Most will be streamed live on the EuroNASCAR social media profiles – Youtube, Facebook and Twitch – as well as on Motorsport.tv.
