Marko Stipp Motorsport signs Romain Iannetta for Most weekend

Marko Stipp Motorsport secured the services of EuroNASCAR veteran Romain Iannetta ahead of the Czech NASCAR GP. The Frenchman will share the #46 Camaro with EuroNASCAR 2 driver Miguel Gomes and contest both rounds of the PRO category.

For Iannetta, Most has good memories. Two years ago, he finished third in Sunday’s race, so he knows what it takes to make it to the podium in EuroNASCAR’s top division. In total, the five-time Le Mans starter can look back on two wins and eleven other podiums in his EuroNASCAR career, as well as third place overall in the championship in 2015.

The 41-year-old, who has been in communication with team boss Marko Stipp for an extended period of time ahead of his guest appearance, is quoted as saying: “The team’s presentation has inspired me with confidence and I thank Marko for giving me the trust to join Marko Stipp Motorsport.”

“Our common goal is to finish in the top five – and why not a podium? We haven’t done any testing and I haven’t driven in a EuroNASCAR car since the last race at Zolder in 2019. I think we will use the two free practices to get used to the car again. But at the same time to discover the team,” Iannetta explains the goals he has set with the racing team.

Stipp echoes Iannetta’s words and has words of praise for the NWES veteran: “We are very happy to welcome Romain, an extremely experienced driver, to the team. He has already won races and scored many podiums in EuroNASCAR. Our goal is to take up the fight and establish ourselves in the top 5 with Romain.”

Ahead of next weekend’s return, the new signing also explains what the racing series is all about and his experience in the Czech Republic so far: “I have liked the NASCAR Whelen Euro Series since the beginning. The American atmosphere, the organisation of Team FJ is exceptional in Europe, the format of the races and of course the many fans.”

“In addition, the level is very high, the drivers are very fair for the most part. NASCAR cars are real race cars that are difficult and selective to drive. For all these reasons, I am very happy to return to European NASCAR racing at Most this weekend after an absence of two years. I appreciate this fast and technical track where I achieved a podium (3rd place) in the 2019 season.”

Marko Stipp Motorsport will visit Czech Republic’s Autodrom Most (27 – 29 August) with a total of five drivers. Alongside Iannetta and Gomes, Andreas Kuchelbacher will be making his return to the Club Challenge in the #46 Camaro. Yevgen Sokolovskiy (EuroNASCAR PRO and EuroNASCAR 2) and Gordon Barnes (Club Challenge) will share duty in the #48 Camaro.
