Gil Linster will join CAAL Racing for the 2022 NASCAR Whelen Euro Series season. The Luxembourgish driver will be back with the Italian powerhouse and compete in the EuroNASCAR 2 Championship. The 28-year-old already raced for the Canneori family’s championship winning team from 2017 to 2018 and aims to become a regular top-5 contender next year.
After earning some precious experience in the United States in 2019 and 2020, Linster made his return to EuroNASCAR in 2021, scoring 1 top-5 and 3 top-10s. In his career, the NWES veteran made a total of 27 EuroNASCAR 2 starts and in 2018 he finished inside the top-10 eight times, closing the season fifth in points.
“I will focus entirely on the 2022 EuroNASCAR season and I have already signed the contract with CAAL Racing”, said Linster. “With CAAL Racing again we found a great deal for both sides. During the winter I will keep improving my Italian to be able to communicate with the team in a proper way. It’s all about beating the Hendriks Motorsport guys, who are incredibly fast, but CAAL Racing has what it takes to be successful. I want to be a regular inside the top-5 and become a title contender.”
CAAL Racing’s Team Manager Luca Canneori is happy about the deal with the 28-year-old from Frisange. He said: “We are very happy to welcome Gil back with us. At the end of our stint together he had established himself in the top-5 and we are looking forward to picking up our work together where we left. We want to climb a few more places together and have a lot of success in the 2022 EuroNASCAR 2 Championship season.”
The 2022 NASCAR Whelen Euro Series season will kick off on April 9-10 at the legendary Hockenheimring in Germany. The upcoming championship consists of six rounds across Europe and two thrilling special events: the All-Star Race at Vallelunga in Italy and the EuroNASCAR Winter Classics on ice. The championship finale will take place at Automotodrom Grobnik in Rijeka, Croatia, on October 29-30, 2022.
