Klemen Sofric Alon Day With Fan Most 2022

Last minute deal: Alon Day joins Speedhouse at Circuit Zolder!

Alon Day will compete in the NASCAR GP Belgium at Circuit Zolder. A last minute deal will bring the most winningest driver in NWES history to Lucas Lasserre’s Speedhouse to drive the #40 Ford Mustang. The Israeli will avoid scoring two zeroes and is set to fight for important championship points in the EuroNASCAR PRO regular season finale. The three-time champion will be back with PK Carsport to fight for the title in the NWES Finals at Automotodrom Grobnik in Croatia.

PK Carsport and Day both stated that they had a five-race deal in place for the 2022 NWES season with the NASCAR GP Belgium set to be a joker event for the Monster Energy athlete. A last minute deal with Lasserre opened the door for Day to compete at Circuit Zolder and maximize his results in the regular season, after which all drivers will drop their two worst results.

“I appreciate the fact that Alon called me,” said Lasserre at the track. “We have been very strong since the beginning of the year and we know Alon is a great driver and always competitive. We are in a good position and this is just the beginning. Alon knows that.” With that, Speedhouse will have the two championship rivals, Day and Brands Hatch race winner Alexander Graff, who’s second in the overall standings behind the Israeli, in its ranks for the NASCAR GP Belgium.

“We have Alexander in the title battle, he’s been at Speedhouse from the beginning of the year,” Lasserre continued. “Now, I’m helping Alon a little bit to be here. The message is clear: we have Marc Goossens, who’s very strong, Alexander in the title battle, Paul Jouffreau, Cosimo Barberini, Arianna Casoli and Neo Lambert. All drivers are battling for their championships and Trophies. We are 100 percent attractive to fast drivers. We will handle Alexander and Alon, we are professionals.”

PK Carsport put together a strong line-up for the team’s home race at Circuit Zolder with Pol van Pollaert and Christian Malcharek sharing the #11 Chevrolet Camaro while team boss Anthony Kumpen is set for his comeback in the #24 Chevrolet. Therefore, there was no seat left for Day with the initial five-race deal in place. Kumpen is happy that his regular driver will be at the track at Zolder to maximize his chances of winning what could be his record-breaking fourth title with the Belgium powerhouse.

“We agreed with Alon to have Belgium as his joker weekend in the 2022 NWES season,” Kumpen said. “I found a solution to drive myself at Zolder and therefore I didn’t have a seat left. He found a way and that’s good for him. He’ll be back with us for the Finals at Automotodrom Grobnik to fight for the EuroNASCAR PRO title and we are looking forward to having him back there.” The NASCAR GP Belgium will take place on October 8-9 with all races being broadcast live on EuroNASCAR’s YouTube channel.
