The Italian teams will field a total of three cars – Ercoli, Caso, Armetta and Romagnoli confirmed
Two Italian teams have confirmed a total of three cars and four drivers for the 2024 NASCAR Whelen Euro Series season. Vict Motorsport will run the #8 Chevrolet Camaro for Dario Caso in EuroNASCAR PRO and youngster Mario Ercoli in EuroNASCAR 2. The Club Motorsport will have two cars on the grid with Riccardo Romagnoli and Fabrizio Armetta both running in EuroNASCAR PRO. Romagnoli will take the wheel of the #43 Chevrolet while Armetta will be back in the #55 Camaro.
Ercoli made his NASCAR debut at the end of the 2023 season and showed a good pace at the wheel of the 400bhp V8 beast without any electronic driving aids. The 16-year-old is eager to climb the learning curve and challenge for the Rookie Trophy in EuroNASCAR’s most unpredictable championship. He will be supported by Caso, who has been a member of the NWES paddock since 2016. The 61-year-old from Campobasso will compete for the Challenger Trophy in EuroNASCAR PRO.
The Club Motorsport has confirmed Romagnoli and Armetta in EuroNASCAR PRO. Armetta will enter the season as the defending Challenger Trophy champion. The 51-year old finished 13th overall with four top-10 finishes and a maiden podium at Circuit Zolder. Despite challenging weather conditions, the Italian ran a fine race to finish third, his first top-3 finish in his 61st start.
Romagnoli joined the series in 2022 with The Club and ran double duty last year. The increased experience paid off with him scoring three top-10 finishes in the 2023 EuroNASCAR PRO season and finishing 17th overall. For his third full season campaign, the 60-year old driver will be focusing his efforts in EuroNASCAR’s top division.
Speedhouse also confirmed the return of Eric Quintal to EuroNASCAR 2 at the wheel of the #64 Ford Mustang. A veteran of the series since 2012, Quintal will once again fight for the Legend Trophy for drivers aged 40 and above. Kenko Miura of Japan is expected to return with his own Team Japan Needs24 in the #74 Toyota Camry. Miura aims to compete for the overall victory on both the Challenger Trophy in EuroNASCAR PRO and the Legend Trophy in EuroNASCAR 2.
The 2024 NASCAR Whelen Euro Series season kicks off April 13-14 at the Circuit Ricardo Tormo in Valencia, Spain. All four races will be broadcast live on EuroNASCAR’s YouTube channel and on several television networks around the world. In many countries, highlights from the events will be available in foreign languages.
