Veeti Rajala joined EuroNASCAR in 2024 after participating in the Drivers Recruitment Program – The Finn aims to establish himself as a top contender in Europe’s official NASCAR championship
Since its inception, the Drivers Recruitment Program has been the best opportunity to become a driver in the NASCAR Whelen Euro Series. Drivers from all around the world have taken advantage of the program to experience the Pure Racing EuroNASCAR machines for the first time, with the best candidates receiving a scholarship for their rookie season in the championship. Granducato Speed’s Veeti Rajala is part of the latest generation of rookies and the Finn is also one of the many talented drivers to utilize the Drivers Recruitment Program as his method to start a career in Europe’s official NASCAR championship.
Rajala came in contact with former drivers from Finland, who recommended the 17-year old driver to try out the DRP. “I got in touch with the DRP through former Finnish EuroNASCAR drivers. We thought it would be a good way to get a feel for the car and the series, so we contacted NWES President and CEO Jerome Galpin. Fontenay was a perfect two-day test. We learned a lot about the series and especially the car. The test was important for gaining experience, and above all, I had fun,” said the young Finn.
His performance in the DRP showed plenty of promise. It was the key factor that landed him the scholarship that secured his position in the EuroNASCAR 2 division for the 2024 season. “The program helped me a lot,” added Rajala. “I doubt I would have had the same opportunity to race this season without it. I recommend the program to any driver interested in the EuroNASCAR series.”
Rajala is finding his rhythm within the most unpredictable division of EuroNASCAR. His season started well with a double top-15 finish in the opening round in Spain and he scored his first top-10 finish in the United Kingdom. There have been some setbacks, but they are part of the learning curve in EuroNASCAR and the driver from Sipoo continues to learn and absorb new knowledge in every race.
Rajala is eager to be back behind the wheel of the #90 Chevrolet Camaro when the season resumes with the NASCAR GP Czech Republic on 31 August-1 September. Past Drivers Recruitment Program alumnus have scored podium finishes and even race wins at the panoramic Autodrom Most circuit and Rajala aims to be the next one to achieve this against the strong competition in the official European NASCAR championship.
