On 21-22 September, NASCAR Whelen Euro Series will kickstart the playoffs for the 2024 season with the NASCAR GP Germany, the first of two double points paying events. The 3.668-kilometer Motorsport Arena Oschersleben will host the Germany NASCAR festival for the second time in history. Oschersleben made its first appearance in 2023 and instantly captivated fans with its thrilling races and milestones, with all four races resulting in historic feats that will be etched in the record books. Buckle up as we take a trip down the memory lane to remember these highlights and anticipate the prospect of new ones being written in the upcoming 2024 edition.
Tobias Dauenhauer and Bremotion, the first German EuroNASCAR PRO winners
13,000 fans visited Oschersleben in 2023 to see their home crowd heroes Tobias Dauenhauer and Bremotion take the checkered flag and win the EuroNASCAR PRO race on Sunday. Dauenhauer had won multiple races in EuroNASCAR 2, but in 2023 he joined Bremotion for his first major campaign in EuroNASCAR PRO. The aspiring team from Frankfurt led by Patrick Brenndorfer experienced big ambitions and with Dauenhauer behind the wheel of the #99 Chevrolet Camaro, they were able to make their dreams come true with a home victory that secured their status as the first driver and team from Germany to win in EuroNASCAR’s top division. In 2024, Dauenhauer and Bremotion stayed united and with them sitting sixth in the standings, everything is still up to grabs as they aim to become the first German champions in the sport.
Paul Jouffreau wins in both EuroNASCAR PRO and EuroNASCAR 2 on the same day
Numerous drivers have won races in EuroNASCAR PRO and EuroNASCAR 2 at some point in their careers, but no one was able to complete the feat in the same day until Paul Jouffreau did so in 2023. On Saturday, Jouffreau took the checkered flag in the EuroNASCAR 2 race and was retrospectively awarded with the victory in EuroNASCAR PRO after initial winner Vittorio Ghirelli was penalized due to technical infringements. The achievement was one of the many amazing feats that the Frenchman made in 2023, the year where he also won the EuroNASCAR 2 title. The 20-year old driver is pursuing his first EuroNASCAR PRO championship title with RDV Competition in 2024 and with him only ten points behind leader Ghirelli, the opportunity is wide open for Jouffreau to shine in the playoffs.
Patrick Schober soars to maiden EuroNASCAR 2 victory
Patrick Schober, the current EuroNASCAR 2 teammate of Paul Jouffreau in the #3 RDV Competition Ford Mustang, will return to the track where he visited the Victory Lane for the first time. Schober slowly rose up the ranks in 2023 and properly established himself as a future talent to watch when he took victory at Oschersleben following a dramatic race on Sunday. The Austrian was left in tears when he realized that he had become a race winner in EuroNASCAR 2. Currently on his third season, Schober is entering the playoffs with a 46 point deficit from leader Martin Doubek, but he is a driver that will not give up and plans to do everything he can to maximize his chances to win the championship battle.
Be sure to tune in to the 2024 NASCAR GP Germany on 21-22 September as there’s four double points races that can completely shake up the running order before the Finals in October. All qualifying and races from the EuroNASCAR playoffs will be broadcast live on EuroNASCAR’s YouTube channel and several TV networks from all around the world.
