Following the confirmation of Andreas Kuchelbacher for the 2025 Rookie Challenge season, Speedhouse Racing has announced the return of Matthias Hauer. The German will compete in selected events in the OPEN division for Lucas Lasserre’s top team. Hauer returns after a one year hiatus and will be back in the Legend Trophy. The 51-year-old will join Speedhouse Racing as a part-time driver, as his professional commitments as a lawyer will limit his racing time next year. Despite this, Hauer is determined to shine and pick up some strong results over the course of the season.
Hauer raced in EuroNASCAR for the first time in 2018 and established himself in the paddock with strong performances in the Legend Trophy and his fair, down-to-earth and friendly approach in the garages. The lawyer from Germany has been part of the Speedhouse Racing family since 2019, becoming an integral part of Lasserre’s team that has grown into one of NASCAR’s most successful organisations in Europe. With his commitment and partnership, Hauer has helped Speedhouse Racing to develop and create a leading status on the grid.
“I’m very happy to be driving for Speedhouse again and I’m grateful to my crew chief and friend Lucas Lasserre for allowing me to be a part of NASCAR and Speedhouse again. I’m looking forward to working with my team and my teammates. We want to continue to improve and make the 2025 season a success. My goal is to get back on the podium at the Legend Trophy and finish in the top-10 in the OPEN standings. It’s going to be tough, because the level is constantly rising and the series is becoming more and more demanding from a driving and technical point of view. I’m ready for the challenge and want to fight for every position.”
Hauer is preparing for the season with fitness training and simulator sessions. “I am really happy that NASCAR is holding another race in Germany. This will be my home race again and I’m looking forward to welcoming many friends and fans from Germany. Lasserre added: “I am very pleased to confirm that Matthias Hauer will be driving for Speedhouse in the 2025 OPEN season. Matt is part of the Speedhouse family and a close friend of mine. He has been with us since the formation of the team in 2017. It’s an honour to have him back. Matt is driven and knows the car well. He will be competitive in the OPEN division and be ready to fight for top positions.”
The 2025 NASCAR Euro Series season kicks off on 12-13 April at the Circuit Ricardo Tormo in Valencia, Spain. Keep an eye out for one of EuroNASCAR’s finest gentleman drivers on the grid as Hauer always welcomes fans to join him on the grid walks and in the garages. As well as being a hungry racer, the German is also a huge NASCAR fan, living the lifestyle around the American-themed festivals in seven European countries. All races will be broadcast live on the EuroNASCAR YouTube channel.
